Engagement photography|Advice & Top tips
OMG—you just got engaged! Cue the happy dance because this is HUGE! Your big day is officially on the horizon, and the next few months are going to be a whirlwind of excitement, love, and (let’s be honest) a little bit of cake tasting.
From venue scouting to picking the perfect flowers, crafting the ultimate guest list, and saying “yes” to all the fun details—this is YOUR time to soak up every magical moment. But amidst all the planning, let’s not forget the real reason behind it all… You found your person, your best friend, your forever.
What better way to celebrate this amazing milestone than with an engagement shoot? It’s the perfect excuse to capture all the love, laughter, and excitement you’re feeling right now (and let’s be real—get some Insta-worthy shots along the way). These are the moments you’ll want to look back on forever, so why not make them extra special?
Let’s make some magic together!
i feel awkward in front of the camera
I hear this all the time from couples—trust me, you’re not alone! But that’s exactly where I come in. My job isn’t just to take pretty pictures; it’s to make you feel totally at ease so we can capture the magic of you two just being you!
Think of your engagement shoot as a fun, relaxed hangout—just with a camera tagging along! No stiff poses or forced smiles here. Instead, I’ll guide you through the session, helping you find natural movements, flattering angles, and the best backdrops with dreamy lighting. Not sure what to do with your hands? No worries—I got you!
Most importantly, I want to capture your real connection—the laughter, the little looks, and those sweet, unspoken moments that make your love story yours. By the end of the shoot, I promise you’ll be feeling like naturals (and maybe even a little excited for your wedding day photos!
What to wear? Simple—something that makes you feel amazing!
Listen, there’s nothing worse than spending your entire engagement shoot tugging at an itchy sweater or adjusting too-tight jeans. If you’re uncomfortable, it will show in your photos (and we don’t want that, do we?). So, pick outfits that make you feel great—like your best, most confident self!
A little coordination goes a long way—if one of you is going for sleek and smart, the other shouldn’t be rocking joggers. Casual? Both casual. Fancy? Both fancy. Basically, aim for “effortlessly put together” rather than “accidentally mismatched.” Oh, and consider your location! A ballgown in the middle of a forest? Iconic, but maybe not the most practical.
Now for the golden rules—avoid loud patterns, massive logos, or anything that screams so last season in a few years’ time. You want these photos to be timeless! Personally, I’m a sucker for neutrals (they always look stunning in photos), but ultimately, wear what makes you feel amazing!
Where should we have our engagement shoot?
Picking the right spot for your engagement shoot can take it from good to absolutely amazing! Think about a place that means something to you—maybe the city where you first met, the park where you had that unforgettable picnic, or the spot where you shared your first “I love you.”
But hey, if you don’t have a “special place” in mind, no stress! Just choose somewhere that makes you happy—maybe a scenic park, a bustling city street, or even a stunning National Trust property. The key is finding a spot where you feel comfortable and totally yourselves.
No clue where to go? No worries! I’m here to help, and together, we’ll find the perfect backdrop to capture your love story. No matter where we shoot, I promise we’ll create some seriously beautiful, frame-worthy moments!

Bring Your Vibe…
I totally understand that having a professional photographer taking your picture is not an everyday occurrence, if it were it would be a bit weird, right?
Try and approach the session from a fun point of view and think about the time you get to spend with each other experiencing something new and exciting together, relax and let me work my creativity and imagination.
You Be you…
Relax, breathe, and enjoy the moment. When I meet up with couples, we initially chat about their wedding plans, family, friends, and anything really to get the banter going. We will often just start walking and talking until I find a nice place to take a couple of shots and from there it flows effortlessly, before you know it 1-2 hours have passed and we’ve got some amazing images in the bag. Keeping it simple like this allows you to be yourselves, which in turn produces natural, fun, and beautiful photographs of you, as a couple.
Engagement shoots = zero stress, all fun!
My goal? To make your engagement shoot feel more like a fun date and less like a formal photoshoot. No stiff poses, no awkward “what do I do with my hands?” moments—just you two, having a great time!
When we meet up, we’ll start with a relaxed stroll and a good chat (because I love a good engagement story!). As we wander, I’ll be on the lookout for the best spots—perfect lighting, gorgeous backdrops, and all the right vibes. We’ll stop, snap a few natural shots, and then move on—easy, breezy, and totally laid-back.
The whole session will feel super informal so you can just be yourselves and actually enjoy the moment. My job is to make sure you feel relaxed, have fun, and walk away with some seriously gorgeous photos.
Oh, and don’t worry—I know you’ll be dying to see your pics! I’ll have them ready for you within a couple of weeks (promise!).
