The Old Deanery in Rippon today’s wedding venue

Ok, let’s get straight into John and Emma’s rustic, spring-inspired wedding which took place back in April of last year, almost a year to the day at the fabulous Old Deanery in the historic market town of Ripon, North Yorkshire. John & Emma are one of the nicest couples you could ever possibly wish to meet. John is a very talented tattoo artist, while Emma runs her own wedding floristry and French Antique business (check out her beautiful floristry work here:https://emmacoxfloristry.com/

Having got to know Emma & John a little bit more, by way of spending a couple of hours with them up in the Peak District on their pre-wedding shoot, I knew that their wedding was going to be full of love, family and close friends. The wedding vibe was relaxed, laidback, and jam-packed with personal little details – like the fake transfer tattoos and Emma’s stunning floral masterpieces that adorned the ceremony room. I arrived early on a wet drizzly Saturday morning. Emma and her twin sister Helen were getting their hair and make-up done by the talented Emily Hawkes & Amy George. One thing that did strike me was that while Emma was having her hair done she was busy finishing off tying her own wedding bouquets together (not just for herself for her sister too)… multi-tasking like I’ve never seen before during the bridal preparations!

Whilst all this magical activity and creativity was happening inside, outside John was busy greeting his guests whilst dodging the rain showers. The ceremony was a beautiful intimate affair, full of emotion and laughter with a few tears too. I loved the fact that John and Emma had chosen not to buy brand new wedding rings instead they both found Antique platinum wedding rings from Cavendish Jewellers based in York.

With the formalities of the civil service complete it was time to head outside for canapes and drinks and of course, the obligatory sustainable dried rose petal confetti run! With two or three group formal shots in the bag it was soon back to capturing the good stuff, laughter, hugs, and big smiles all day long.

As the afternoon celebrations slowly flowed into the evening’s proceedings it was time for the live band to kick things off. ‘I Kept The Wolves Away’ played a blinding set to keep the dance floor ebbing all night long.
