Doddington Hall Wedding
I always look forward to photographing weddings at venues that I haven’t shot at before, especially magnificent ones like Graham & Lucy’s Doddington Hall wedding bonanza!
Like most weddings I photograph the day starts off early in the morning with the bridal preparations. I really enjoy this part of the day. You can feel and see the excitement building up throughout the morning, the last minute nerves, the anticipation of what’s to come. With makeup and hair preparations underway, Lucy sent her mum over to the boys’ cottage to give Graham a box full of carefully selected, thoughtful gifts, one of which was a signed letter from the Chelsea football club captain John Terry, congratulating them both on their wedding day. Graham was mightily impressed, to say the least.
The civil ceremony was absolutely perfect! A live harpist provided the background ambient music, whilst Graham & Lucy said their vows to each other in front of their close family and friends. With the ceremony over it was time for reception drinks, but not before they both had to run the confetti gauntlet tunnel.
With the group and listed formal shots done it was time to take the newlyweds for a little walk around the stunning grounds of Doddington Hall. 20-25 minutes later we had the photos we needed so we headed back to the party.
The dining room looked amazing, with lots of the details and decor lovingly created by Lucy herself, including a Harry Potter themed sweet table which was stocked full of retro sweets. Lucy hadn’t forgotten about her love for her cat Daisy, she had individually wrapped up small cat treats for guests to take home for their feline friends … purrfect!
Soon everyone had finished the three-course vegetarian wedding breakfast, which I had the pleasure of sampling myself and let me tell you it was totally delicious. From here it was straight into the speeches, tears, belly laughs and some surprising wedding bedroom gifts made these speeches in particular one to remember!
Graham & Lucy are an awesome, funny, witty, genuinely caring couple who shared their wedding day with close family and friends, and for me, that really came across photographing their wedding day. Everyone at this wedding had a great time, and for me, that’s what makes a great wedding.
So here’s a little peek into their awesome Doddington Hall wedding day …
Thanks
Mark
