Devan & Rebecca
Carlton Towers Wedding Photographer March 2023
This was my second time around as a Carlton Towers wedding photographer and boy was it a cracker!…
Devan & Rebecca had traveled 3650 miles from their home in Canada to get married at this insanely beautiful and magical venue which is Carlton Towers
Carlton Towers has been welcoming visitors for over 800 years. Those in the know ( Rebecca + Devan) still travel across the world to hold their special celebrations at Carlton Towers.
Carlton Towers was originally cited as being under the ownership of Robert de Brus in the 1086 Domesday Book. Ownership by the family today can be traced back to 1301. Over the 700 years that followed, a rich and fascinating history unfolded, including Kings of Jerusalem crusaders, and knights who fell on the fields of Bannockburn – the rooms and house adornments depict their legacy and testament.
Let’s get back to this Yorkshire Wedding
Ok, the History lesson is over, otherwise, you won’t scroll on and read the rest, so let’s get back to North Yorkshire where this Canadian/British wedding bonanza took place.
I’m taking you back to March 2023. Weather-wise the day started off ok with a few intermittent showers forecasted throughout the day, which in England in March you would be happy with that.
Like most Yorkshire weddings I photograph I always start with the bridal preparations, to say Rebecca looked elegant in her wedding dress was a massive understatement, oozing with style and sophistication this Yorkshire bride had it all going on. This is not to say Devan wasn’t keeping up this standard too on the Canadian side, suited and booted in full Moss Bros attire he looked as sharp as a whistle.
The ceremony took place in the Venetian drawing room which is quite possibly the most beautiful and opulent ceremony room I’ve ever seen or had the pleasure of photographing. Awe-inspiring gold chandeliers, encapsulated with gold wallpaper ( not the stuff you find in B&Q bargain bins) give this room a feeling like no other. Natural light is provided by the enormous period windows which are extraordinarily huge, it’s a joy to take photographs here.
The whole day was an effortless breeze of perfection, with family and friends coming together to celebrate Devan & Rebecca’s unquestionable love for each other, it was an absolute joy for me to spend the day surrounded by these lovely people. Looking forward to returning to Carlton Towers soon…
